Next tuesday, the Anthology Strings is headed back to the studio to lay down string parts to Betty Black’s new LP, Sun Bathing in black. Betty’s music is a hot mix of 50’s retro with a funky soul and booty shaking vibe!
You are in a low lit and sparsely occupied nightclub. You hear the sounds of longing and love’s sad lament set to traditional American instrumentation like slide guitars, banjos, and gut strings calling out above the warm pad of synth. What you see is a mysterious unquestionably feminine form coupled with the music that evokes memories of an amalgamation of Elvira, Dolly Parton, Beck, Dylan, Nina Simone, Mazzy Star, Southern Comfort straight up, on the set of David Lynch’s Blue Velvet. This is music for the grown ups.
Check her out and keep your eyes and ears peeled for the drop!
